Tele-NP assessments

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment

The Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment includes a thorough assessment of your thinking ability, social function and emotional wellbeing. This includes assessing intelligence (IQ), ability to focus and process information quickly, learning style, verbal and visual memory ability, language function, perceptual ability, motor skills, and executive functioning such as flexibility in thinking and organization/planning. An assessment will also include an evaluation of your physical health and mental well-being.

Often, the process can include reaching out to others such as teachers, parents and treatment providers to get a full picture. Typically, for every hour we spend together, the same amount of time is spent scoring the information, gathering additional information from others involved in your care, and conceptualizing the information we have received. The final results are presented in a comprehensive report and you receive a copy. We meet to discuss the results together.

Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment Process

The assessment includes the following:

  • An initial intake (60-90 mins) followed by 4-6 hours of remote or in-person testing that can occur over one day or 2-3 separate testing days.
  • When appropriate, consultation occurs with other relevant parties including parents/spouse, teachers, or treatment providers.
  • A review of academic and medical records.
  • A final 60-90 mins session, held approximately 2 weeks after the completion of testing, to discuss the results of the assessment. We will also discuss relevant recommendations tailored specifically to your needs and take this opportunity to answer any questions that come up.
  • You receive a comprehensive written report complete with individualized recommendations based on the assessment. This document can be used for treatment and planning purposes. For example, the report can assist with educational placement, guide treatment options, assistance with accommodations for school or on standardized tests.
  • An optional booster session 3-6 months after the assessment. The focus is to answer any questions, review progress with recommendations and plan for next steps.

Psychological Assessment

The Psychological Assessment explores social, emotional, and personality functioning. The process typically includes a 60-90 min clinical interview, interviews with caregivers, and an objective assessment of psychological functioning. The process includes a brief assessment of IQ, measures of mood and personality, and consultation with others who know you well, with your permission. As noted, the process often includes reaching out to others (for example, teachers, parents, and treatment providers) for a full picture. Typically, for every hour we spend together, the same amount of time is spent scoring the information, gathering information from others, and conceptualizing the information we have received. The final reports are discussed in a comprehensive report and you receive a copy.

Psychological Assessment Process

The assessment includes the following:

  • An initial intake (60-90 mins) followed by 3-4 hours of remote or in-person testing.
  • Typically, several consultations occur with other relevant parties ranging from 30-120 mins each, with your permission.
  • A review of records.
  • A final 60-90 mins session, held approximately 2 weeks after testing is finished, to discuss the results of the assessment. At this time, we can answer any questions that come up. We will also discuss recommendations and make relevant referrals.
  • You receive a comprehensive written report complete with individualized recommendations based on the assessment. This document can be used for treatment and planning purposes.
  • An optional booster session 3-6 months after the assessment to answer any questions, review progress with recommendations and determine next steps.

Abbreviated (Tailored) Assessment

The Abbreviated Assessment is designed to answer a very specific question. Therefore, the process is necessarily briefer compared to a comprehensive evaluation. The Abbreviated Assessment does not include additional consultation with teachers or treatment providers and often testing is completed in one day.

Typical requests for younger people:

  • Dyslexia assessment
  • ADHD assessment
  • Gifted / IQ assessment

Typical requests for adults:

  • ADHD assessment
  • Assessment to determine decision making capacity
  • Memory assessment (Dementia; Alzheimer's disease)

Consultation

This is a unique service that is provided for those seeking consultation only. Testing may or may not be necessary. This service may be helpful for those who have engaged in prior assessments, although this is not required, and would like clarity for next steps or treatment planning.

The consultation process includes a brief interview, a review of records including prior assessments if available, and consultations with relevant professionals.

The purpose of the consult package is to assist with treatment planning or to clarify next steps.
